Exterior Window Care in Mechanicville

We clean the outside of your windows by hand and with purified water, so the glass dries clear instead of spotted. Screens come off gently, sills and frames get wiped, and your flower beds and walkways stay protected the whole time.

Clean glass, handled with care

Exterior windows collect more than dust. Spring pollen, tree sap, hard water from sprinklers and the film thrown up by winter roads all bond to glass over time. A quick hose rinse moves some of it around. A proper cleaning removes it and leaves nothing behind to dry into spots.

Our work covers the glass, the frames, the sills and the screens on the outside of your home. Before anyone touches a ladder, we walk the house with you, point out anything we notice, such as a cracked seal or a loose screen, and agree on which windows are included. You know the plan before the work begins.

What the work includes

Purified-water glass cleaning
For upper windows we use a water-fed pole with filtered, deionized water. With the minerals removed, the glass dries clear on its own, and we can reach second-story panes without leaning ladders against your siding.
Hand detailing on lower panes
Ground-floor glass gets a scrubber and squeegee by hand, with the edges wiped dry so no drip lines are left along the frame.
Screen care
We remove screens, brush and rinse them away from your plantings, let them dry, and set them back in their tracks. Bent frames or torn mesh get noted and shown to you rather than forced back in.
Frames, sills and tracks
Vinyl and painted frames are wiped down, and sills are cleared of grit, insect casings and the old cobwebs that gather in corners.
Protection and cleanup
Drop cloths go over mulch beds and walkways under each work area, ladder feet get padded, and we carry everything out when we leave.

Signs your windows are due

  • A yellow-green film in spring

Pollen settles on glass and sills and turns into a sticky haze after the first light rain.

  • White spots that will not wipe off

Sprinklers and overflowing gutters leave mineral deposits. Left for a season, they etch into the surface and become harder to lift.

  • Dull glass after winter

Road grime and the salt film from upstate winters cling to lower windows and front-facing panes, making the whole house look gray in early spring.

  • Lights that look muddy at night

If you have permanent lighting along the roofline, dirty glass below it scatters the glow. Clean windows reflect it back and let the exterior look finished after dark.

  • Insects and webs in the corners

Webs and egg sacs along frames and screens tend to return each summer until the corners are fully cleared.

What shapes the price

Every home is priced on what is actually there, so we listen before we quote. The quote is free and given by phone after a short conversation about your house. You will know what is included before we arrive.

Window count and style

Large picture windows, divided-lite panes and bay windows take more time than standard double-hung units.

Height and access

Second- and third-story glass, steep grades and windows behind dense shrubs or over decks affect setup time.

Condition of the glass

Years of hard water staining, paint overspray or construction residue need extra passes beyond routine work.

Screens and tracks

Including screens and deep track detailing adds time, especially if screens are numerous or delicate.

How often you schedule

Windows serviced on a regular rhythm come clean faster than ones left for several years.

How a service day runs

  1. 1

    Walkaround and plan

We confirm the windows on the list, note any damaged seals or screens, and ask about pets, gates and anything fragile near the house.

  2. 2

    Protect the ground

Drop cloths go down over beds and walkways, and we move planters or furniture only with your say-so.

  3. 3

    Screens out, glass cleaned

Screens are removed and cleaned off to the side. Upper glass is done with purified water, lower glass by hand, and frames and sills are wiped as we go.

  4. 4

    Final check with you

Screens go back in, we look over every pane in daylight, and we walk you around to see the result before we pack up and clear the yard.

Questions about your windows

Do you need to come inside my house?

No. Our work is on the outside of your home, so you do not need to be home while we clean. We do like a few minutes with you at the start for the walkaround, and at the end to look over the result.

Won't plain water leave spots on the glass?

Tap water would, because of the minerals in it. We use filtered, deionized water on the upper windows, which dries without residue. Lower panes are finished by hand with a squeegee and dry cloth.

How do you protect my gardens and siding?

Drop cloths go down under every work area, and the water-fed pole means far fewer ladders against the house. When a ladder is needed, its feet and top are padded so they do not mark siding or crush plantings.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Light rain does not undo clean glass, since the problem is what dries on the window rather than rain itself. Heavy rain, high wind or lightning means we reschedule and let you know as early as we can.

How often should exterior windows be cleaned?

Twice a year suits a lot of houses: once the spring pollen has finished falling, and again in autumn before cold weather arrives. A house beside a busy road or under large trees can need an extra visit in between. We will give you a straight answer about your own windows rather than sell you a schedule you do not need.

Can you do the windows when you install permanent lighting?

Yes. Many homeowners pair their windows with permanent exterior lighting installation so the roofline and the glass below it look finished at the same time. Mention it when you call and we will plan the visit together.
