Gentle Hardscape Cleaning for Mechanicville Homes

Your front steps, paths, patio and driveway each get a method chosen for the material underneath, so grime and growth lift without etching concrete or loosening paver joints. Shrubs and beds are covered before we begin, and we talk you through the plan first.

Clean Paths and Patios, Without Harm to What Surrounds Them

Concrete, pavers and natural stone each wear dirt differently. Broom-finished concrete holds grime in its texture. Pavers trap organic growth in the joints. Bluestone and flagstone can flake if they are hit too hard. We look at the material first, then choose the nozzle, the distance and any pre-treatment, rather than running one setting across everything.

The care around the work matters as much as the result. We cover shrubs and perennial beds, keep runoff away from lawn edges, protect any low-voltage path lights and fixtures, and tell you what we plan to do before we start. When we finish, you walk the job with us.

What Our Hardscape Care Covers

Walkways and front steps
These are the surfaces guests see first and the ones most likely to turn slick. We lift the green and black film that builds up in shade and clean the risers and edges as well as the treads.
Patios and paver areas
We work at a setting that clears the joints of growth without blasting out the sand. If the joints are already badly washed out, we tell you so you can decide on resanding.
Concrete driveways and aprons
A rotary cleaning head gives an even result without the striping that a hand wand leaves behind. Edges and expansion joints get detailed by hand.
Stone walls and borders
Retaining walls, garden edging and natural stone steps are cleaned more gently, since softer stone can scar under too much pressure.
Spot treatment for stains
Rust marks, leaf tannin and oil drips get a targeted pre-treatment before the main clean. We are honest beforehand about which stains should lift fully and which will only fade.

Signs Your Hard Surfaces Are Due

  • Slippery steps in the shade

A greenish or black film on north-facing walkways and steps is organic growth. It holds moisture and gets slick, especially in spring and fall.

  • Dark streaks below downspouts

Where gutters drain onto concrete or pavers, runoff leaves dark tracks and growth that keeps spreading outward.

  • Leaf and seed stains

Maple seeds, oak leaves and wet debris leave brown tannin shadows that a garden hose will not move.

  • White, chalky residue after winter

Salt and ice melt from the cold months, plus minerals working up through the masonry, leave a dull white bloom on steps and walks.

  • Weeds and moss in the joints

Growth between pavers or in concrete cracks lifts edges over time and makes a patio look older than it is.

How the Day Runs

  1. 1

    A conversation before we arrive

On the phone we ask which areas you want cleaned, what they are made of and whether there are stains you are concerned about. You get a free quote and a clear idea of what the visit involves.

  2. 2

    Protecting the property

We cover plantings next to the work, move planters and furniture with care, check that windows and doors nearby are closed, and shield any outdoor lighting or outlets.

  3. 3

    Pre-treatment and cleaning

Stains and growth get treated first and left to work. Then we clean each surface at the pressure that suits it, moving in an even pattern so the finish comes out consistent.

  4. 4

    Rinse, reset and walk-through

We rinse plantings, siding and nearby surfaces, put everything back where it was and walk the areas with you. If something needs another pass, we do it then.

What Shapes the Price

Every quote is based on your specific surfaces, so we ask a few questions before giving one. The quote is free, and it lists what is included so the final bill holds no surprises. These are the factors that move the number most.

Square footage
A front walk and steps is a short job. A long driveway with a large patio takes far more time and treatment.
Material and its condition
Old or soft stone, and pavers with loose joints, call for a slower, gentler approach than sound poured concrete.
Type of staining
General dirt comes off in the main clean. Rust, oil and deep organic growth need dedicated pre-treatment and sometimes a second pass.
Access and protection needed
Tight side yards, many steps, or dense beds right up to the edges add setup time to keep everything around the work safe.

Questions About Walkways, Patios and Driveways

Something not covered here? (518) 655-2931

Will cleaning damage my pavers or wash out the joint sand?

It should not. We work at a pressure and angle chosen for pavers, which clears growth from the joints without emptying them. If the sand was already failing before we arrived, we point that out so you are not caught off guard.

Are my flower beds and lawn safe?

We cover plantings next to the work, direct runoff away from beds where we can, and rinse greenery when we are finished. Any pre-treatment is applied only where it is needed rather than sprayed across the whole yard.

Do I need to be home, and do you need my water?

You do not need to stay home for the whole visit, though it helps to be there at the start and for the final walk-through. We do use an outdoor spigot, and we confirm which one when we schedule.

How soon can we walk on the surfaces again?

Usually as soon as we finish, though wet stone and concrete can stay slick for a while. Most surfaces dry within a few hours on a mild day.

Will every stain come out completely?

Most dirt, growth and leaf stains lift fully. Old rust and oil that has soaked into concrete often fade a great deal without disappearing entirely. We tell you which to expect when we quote, so the result matches what we said.

How often should hard surfaces be cleaned?

For most homes, once a year keeps growth from taking hold, and spring is a natural time after the salt and wet of winter. Shaded walkways may need attention a little more often.
